School Supply Collection Drive: Collection of pencils to benefit Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School will occur throughout the celebration week at all events.

Book Collection Drive: Collection of lightly used books to benefit Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School will occur throughout the celebration week at all events. Note: books must be age appropriate for 10- to 15-year-old readers.

VCU Health Sciences Community Service

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 815 E. Grace Street, Richmond, Va. 23219

VCU Health Sciences students will offer foot examinations, vital signs, blood glucose checks and oral health screenings to Emmaus’s clients at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, under the mentorship of VCU Health Sciences professional faculty.

VCU faculty, staff and students will be able to sign up to volunteer and interact with students of MLK Middle School. To register, please complete the registration form.

Transportation will be provided by ASPiRE. Please report to the front of the ASPiRE Building/W. Grace Street Residence Hall (835 W. Grace Street) 15 minutes prior to volunteer time. Contact Beverly Walker (bwalker@vcu.edu) if your schedule changes or for any questions.

MLK Service Saturday

Saturday, Jan. 21, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Harris Hall Auditorium, Harris Hall, Monroe Park Campus

VCU faculty, staff and students will volunteer in a day of service to benefit the Black History and Cultural Center of Virginia, Children's Museum of Richmond and East End Cemetery Restoration Project, and, later, return for lunch and a discussion on the impact of community service. Participants must register online at RamsConnect. Transportation and lunch​ will be provided.
