Dr. Martin Luther King Vigil hosted by VCU Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
The brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. will assemble around 5:15 pm in front of VCU Art Depot, at 814 W. Broad Street, Richmond Va. Candles and covers will be passed out while we welcome guests. We will thank everyone for their participation, emphasize the event is a silent march, and line up in pairs. We begin the silent candlelight vigil march at 6:06 beginning at the Art Depot and finishing at the Commons on Monroe Park campus for MLK speech and refreshments. We will walk west on Broad Street and cross at Broad and Shafer, continuing down Shafer Street, crossing Grace Street then Franklin Street, and stopping at the front of the Cabell Library then towards Floyd Ave. near the crosswalk by the commons. We will turn right towards MCALC and continue walking until we reach the academic commons. Once we get there we will go upstairs into room 2100, guests will be welcomed with music until all are seated then 15 minutes of “I have been to the mountaintop will play” and then refreshments will be waiting for them in the lobby.
