Service Saturday: Evergreen and East End Cemeteries
Saturday, Jan. 20, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
50 Evergreen Road, Richmond, Va. Shuttle service available from University Student Commons, Monroe Park Campus
VCU faculty, staff, students and alumni are invited to volunteer as part of “Service Saturday” with the Evergreen and East End Cemetery restoration projects. Evergreen and East End cemeteries are the resting place for our nation’s most prominent leaders of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These historic African-American cemeteries were neglected for decades, obscuring thousands of graves under ivy, brush and illegally dumped trash. Volunteers will remove vegetation and litter and uncover Richmond history. Volunteers must pre-register for the event at: https://goo.gl/forms/KjeJHmcYVyFUeozD3
